Our Mission

Helping People with Chronic Conditions Live Better Lives

Lumia is building the world's most advanced wearable to help people with chronic conditions live healthier, better lives. By shining a light on chronic blood flow disorders affecting over 100 million Americans, Lumia helps members better understand their conditions and get ahead of symptoms.

Lumia is initially focused on chronic orthostatic conditions, such as POTS, Orthostatic Hypotension, Syncope, Dysautonomia, Long COVID, ME/CFS, Peripheral Neuropathies, and Orthostatic Intolerance.

Our HISTORY

From a Personal Crisis to a Global Mission

Lumia Health was founded in 2020 by Daniel Lee and Paul Jin after Daniel's father suffered severe injuries from multiple fainting episodes. Seeking answers from top physicians, they learned that reduced blood flow to the head was the cause, but was too difficult to measure regularly.

Determined to find a solution, they spent nearly five years engineering a groundbreaking wearable - starting in a garage during the pandemic and refining it through cutting-edge research at institutions like Johns Hopkins, Duke University, and Harvard Medical School.

With the support of hundreds of Beta Members, the first generation of Lumia is now available for early adopters, marking the beginning of a new era in chronic condition management.

Our FUTURE

Expanding Access, Advancing Care

Lumia is committed to making our technology accessible to everyone who needs it. While our first-generation device is now available as a wellness product, we know the people who need it most are often unable to work and cannot afford advanced technology like Lumia out of pocket. That's why our next step is seeking FDA approval - paving the way for Lumia to become a medical device reimbursed by insurance. It's a long journey requiring lots of science, but one that we see as necessary to reach everyone who could benefit.

Beyond orthostatic conditions, our vision extends to some of healthcare’s costliest challenges. From preventing fainting and falls in older adults, to slowing neurodegeneration, to optimizing fluid management in conditions like sepsis and heart failure, Lumia is shining a light on what matters - blood flow to your most important organ.

Leadership

AG1 is held to the highest quality standards. From our research, to sourcing, to manufacturing and testing, we go above and beyond industry standards to bring you a safe and effective product.

Daniel Lee,

Co-Founder & CEO

With deep expertise in engineering ultra miniature in-ear health wearables, Daniel is applying his serendipitously relevant experiences toward helping people with Orthostatic Intolerance. Having personally seen the way complex, invisible chronic conditions are understood and managed, Daniel is determined to provide better tools to illuminate what's really going on. Previously, Daniel invented Hush, the ear wearable that became Bose sleepbuds.

Paul Jin

Co-Founder & COO

With a long history of new product introduction, Paul led medical ultrasound systems at Philips Healthcare for 10 years, and later co-led Health Product Innovation at Bose side-by-side with Daniel. Now, he holds the calm at the center of the storm for Lumia Health as we make the world's smallest wearable device a reality.

Ken Yoshioka

CTO

Ken brings over three decades specializing in safety-critical software, embedded systems and connected devices across consumer and medical industries. He led firmware at Peloton and oversaw embedded systems and full-stack platform development at Bose. Now, Ken applies his expertise in platform development, low-power connectivity, and IoT systems for Lumia Health.
